It is the season to pay tribute to moms across the globe, as Mother’s Day is approaching this weekend.
Mothers have a very distinct and crucial place in the world. They, and their role, must not be underestimated. Abraham Lincoln, one of our nation’s greatest and most profound presidents, attributed his achievements to his mother. “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”
You don’t have to be a legendary person in history to have a great mom who helps you become great. The most balanced and well-rounded people are nurtured by consistent, loving and patient mothers…this takes work. Mothers may agree with me that there isn’t a manual that gives instructions on how to be a meaningful mom, but by the time the youngest child comes around; mom has a pretty good idea about what does and does not work in child rearing. I have mostly found that love is the main and prevalent ingredient in the recipe of creating wonderful mom.
My mom is an outstanding example of wonderful mom. Growing up she was pretty perfect, and definitely patient. I only remember my mom loving us, being kind, funny, active and very patient. Thank you mom for showing me the way!
If you really want to get to the worth and significance of mothers, view them as they really are; the CEO of the household! The house, or home if mom is managing it properly, is where everything begins and ends each day. Mom initiates the attitude, a secure environment, order, warmth, a place of rest and support, comfort, motivation and meals. She directs the bus, so to speak, as to where the family is going and for what reason. This direction forms the behaviors of the family, and the family functions in society according to what they have learned at home, which brings us to why mom must care for herself!
Mom has to be strong with emotional and mental qualities necessary to deal with highs and lows of the people in the family. In order for mom to have kouragio, (courage) she must first practice self-care and develop wellness. She must personally grow in the mental and physical arenas as to be aware and awake to what is going on in her domain. If mom is healthy and vital she can tune into the needs of the household and help cultivate valuable life skills. Dad’s you are equally important in a very different way, and we will talk to you in June. But, for now, thank your mom this day and weekend for her continual and resolute patience, love, availability, compassion, guidance and friendship.
Mother Teresa once uttered some very profound and useful words; “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family!”
Family starts with KEFI MOM, or CEO. From one CEO to another, take 5 today. Go and get a massage, take a walk, plan a getaway, plant a garden, take a yoga class, have the kids organize and execute the day for a day, regroup so that you can lead your family positively!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
